The Minnesota Homeownership Center promotes and advances
successful homeownership in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Homeownership Center’s mission is to promote and advance successful homeownership in Minnesota, with a focus on serving the needs of low- and moderate-income families and emerging markets. At the core of this mission is the belief that lower income households can achieve and recognize the benefits of long-term homeownership if they enter homeownership through the right door—prepared to make wise, informed decisions for their families.

The Minnesota Homeownership Center offers a unique approach to homeownership preparedness and sustainability: using a centralized, managed structure. In its centralized role, the Center provides leadership for key initiatives and partnerships that promote homeownership preparedness and sustainable homeownership throughout Minnesota. The Center ensures statewide access to high quality, consistent services by convening the Homeownership Advisors Network, a network of agencies that deliver its homeownership education and foreclosure counseling programs.

Since 1993 we have worked to achieve our mission by empowering the Homeownership Advisors Network through:

    Education
Our programs deliver nationally-recognized, high-quality education programs for home buyers, such as our Home Stretch Workshops and home owners.  The Center also provides our programs with ongoing training and technical assistance to ensure quality program delivery.

    Partnerships

The Minnesota Homeownership Center builds effective partnership between community non-profit organizations, local governments and housing organizations to advance our mission of supporting Minnesota home owners.

    Resources

In 2007, we provided more than 50 community non-profit organizations across Minnesota with over $1 million in financial support to implement home buyer education, refinance counseling and mortgage support counseling.  In addition, the Center conducts more than 2 dozen trainings every year for staff from these same organizations to improve their skills

    Outreach
The Minnesota Homeownership Center creates and implements statewide outreach initiatives aimed at increasing public awareness of, and access to, our partnerships and programs

Through our efforts and partnerships, the Center has helped over 100,000 Minnesotans begin and sustain successful homeownership.
