East African and Somali campaign begins while African American campaign continues outreach efforts.
The Homeownership Opportunity Alliance (HOA) started 2020 with strong momentum from its ongoing African American outreach campaign. Two community panel discussions are being finalized to take place in early May, just as the house hunting season will be hitting its stride. Dubbed Opening Doors: Homeownership Is Possible, these candid panel discussions will feature Twin Cities residents who have successfully achieved sustainable homeownership, as well as bankers, real estate professionals and nonprofit advisors who will dispel the myths around down payments, credit scores and income. On March 1, the HOA launched a series of informational spots on KALY-101.7FM Somali American Radio in Minneapolis. KALY is a low-power public radio station serving the city’s Cedar-Riverside and surrounding neighborhoods. The spots will run through mid-summer, and the HOA will participate in several informational programs and call-in shows over the course of the partnership.
